Absolutely, the completed investigation documents should be released. Are you able to file a FOIA request? Transparency - no matter the issue- is always better.

I HAVE filed a public-records request. The county atty has turned down my request. The Iowa DCI has not responded to my request. Stay tuned .

The Legislature's problem with amending the law so that documents of the public's interest are released lies with the strong lobby of law enforcement and county attorneys. Let's remember that we, as constituents, have a First Amendment right to petition our legislators; government does not have a constitutional right to petition itself.
